“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.”

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 (ESV)

WHO IS DANIELLE HOLBACK?

Although Contemporary Gospel singer Danielle Holback was born in Charleston, SC, her love for music began in the rural parts of Ridgeville, South Carolina where she was raised. She and her brother would glean through the music collections left behind by her mother, aunt, and uncle in their childhood home. From Mariah Carey to Mahalia Jackson, Danielle would immerse herself in the sounds of powerful voices and instrumentalists. Her love of melodic sounds inspired her ability to imitate what she heard. Although Danielle loved singing, she started her musical journey by playing the clarinet in her elementary school’s concert band. She continued to play in high school, but realized her inspiration for playing dwindled, while her love for singing ignited. She joined her high school choir and began singing solos in school. This led to singing in churches, plays, and local events. By the time she arrived at the illustrious campus of Allen University in Columbia, SC, she had already developed her sound and confidence on the stage. After countless trips up and down the east coast with the university chorale and leading the school’s gospel choir, Danielle decided to try her hand at artistry. By this time, she had already developed her ability to write music. However, she never released a project to solidify herself as a Gospel artist. It wasn’t until 2019 did she embark on a journey to release her first Gospel album, “Faith & Dreams.”

In 2021, she released the album, which caught buzz locally, regionally, and internationally. She describes “Faith & Dreams” as her “love letter to Jesus.” At this point in her life, she made the decision to serve Him in totality. Most of the songs on the album were about her love for Christ and how great He is. The lead single “Great God,” talks about searching the world for something fulfilling only to find it in Jesus. Songs like “Love” reiterate the idea that the riches of the world cannot satisfy us like God’s presence. “Call on God,” featuring her brother, Daniel Holback, served as a war cry for the saints who find themselves in a desolate place. Titles like “Tribulations” talk about the woes in friendships and how to test the spirits of those who you allow in your circle. The album is a culmination of Gospel, R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Neo Soul sounds. Her unique take on Gospel music makes her stand out amongst other artists. With the success of her first album, she decided to go back to the drawing board and write music that showcased her growing relationship with Christ and her overall artistry.

In 2022, she began writing and recording her latest single, “Not Afraid.” This project reflected a personal journey of overcoming various trials and tribulations to remain encouraged in God. She worked diligently on the project for over 4 years. After much consideration, she resigned from teaching and decided to work full time as a Gospel artist. Although the journey was difficult, she persevered, by the grace of God. As a result, her new single, “Not Afraid,” is now available for everyone everywhere to pre-order, listen to, and be inspired, starting on March 7, 2026. Its official release is March 29, 2026. “Not Afraid” is inspired by 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 and 1 Peter 1:6-7, explores what it means to be refined by the fire of God. The refining fire strips you of all that isn’t of God and leaves you with only that which was built on the foundation of Christ and for Christ. Although the journey may not be perfect, we can rely on a Savior who never fails us.

Through her music, Danielle aims to introduce Christ to those who don’t know Him, and encourage those who do. She has made it her life’s mission to continue to build on the firm foundation of Christ.
